Christopher Bent is the managing member of the Law Offices of Christopher
Bent, LLC in St. Louis, Missouri. His practice is dedicated to enforcing
the rights and protecting the assets of business owners and individuals
in matters involving labor and employment; contract law; business and
real estate transactions. Mr. Bent is experienced in all areas of traditional
labor law, employment law and all aspects of litigation.
He regularly represents employers and individuals before all state and
federal administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC); Missouri Commission on Human Rights (MCHR); Illinois
Department of Human Rights (IDHR); National Labor Relations Board; (NLRB);
Department of Labor (DOL); Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA); and Administrative Hearing Commission (AHC). He represents business
owners in all types of employment litigation matters including race discrimination,
disability discrimination, gender discrimination, wrongful termination,
breach of employment contract, and the various tort theories.
A substantial portion of Mr. Bent's practice is devoted to counseling
clients on avoiding expensive and time-consuming litigation. He regularly
counsels small and medium sized business owners and individuals in a wide
variety of areas including: severance agreements, non-compete agreements,
business formation and maintenance of business entities, including for-profit
and not-for-profit corporations, limited liability companies, and various
forms of partnerships. He drafts and negotiates contracts for the purchase
and sale of commercial and residential properties and assists landlords
in in a variety of leases for office space, warehouse space, retail space,
apartment buildings and residential properties. He represents landlords
in lease disputes, unlawful detainer, rent and possession and evictions.
Mr. Bent earned his law degree from St. Louis University and a bachelor's
degree in political science and economics from Central State University.
He is admitted to practice in Missouri, Illinois and various federal courts
including the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts
of Missouri and U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Central Districts
of Illinois. He is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St.
Louis (BAMSL) and Illinois Bar Association. He is the former chairman
of the St. Charles, Missouri Planning and Zoning Commission and currently
serves on the BAMSL Minorities in the Legal Profession Committee. He is
a frequent lecturer on business and employment law.
